SKater STyle: Jereme Rogers and Terry KEnnedy,

Guide to Dressing Like a SKATRE KinG

First, let me start out by saying I think skaters are cool– they just are. I had a friend who dated a skater once… a few times last year we went to Union Square (New York) and watched her bf and his friends skate (in this randomly blocked off area). It was fun and the guys were really chill. It seems to me that skaters are the new “rockstars” of sorts… they’re cool, get loads of cash from sponsors, everyone wants to be like them, and the list goes on. There are alot of great skaters out there: Jereme Rogers, Terry Kennedy, Paul Rodriguez, Stevie Williams, Ryan Sheckler, etc etc. But today I will only focus on two of the “skater kings”: Terry Kennedy and Jereme Rogers.
For those who aren’t versed on the skater world- you may know Terry Kennedy from his dramas with ex girlfriend Angela Simmons- yeah Rev Run’s daughter. And Jereme Rogers well his recent mushroom shenanigans has lot of people shaking their heads laughing, but you also may have seen have him hanging with rockstars like Travis Barker on occasion.

Quicky Bios:
Name: Jereme Rogers
Hometown: Boston
Years in the game: Four (pro)
Signature trick: Backside flip

Name: Terry Kennedy
Hometown:Long Beach, California
Years in the game: Seven (pro)
Signature trick: Fakey stuff down handrails

I think it goes without saying that the typical skater style is… the stereotypical hip-hop style. I say stereotypical because these days most categorical “hip-hop” artist dress preppy or “urban prep” or they just do their own thing- which could mean wearing suits or dressing like a nerd. The baggy jeans, graphic tees, fitted hat, and bling bling can truly only be seen in movies or tv shows, on certain rappers, and on skaters kings.
Up first…. Jereme Rodgers:

Jereme reminds me of some of the guys I went to high school with. He just seems like he’s really laid back and always up to have a good time.

Terry Kennedy

Terry is seemingly one of the freshest skaters alive with his blinged out grills, chains, and he even has his own line of shoes and apparel- TK Fly Society by Supra. His shoes have been worn by the Fall Out Boys, Lil Wayne, Heidi Klum, and Souljah Boy just to name a few.

Overall, to get their looks it doesn’t take too much:

graphic tee + baggy jeans + fitted hat + fresh kicks (Supra) + blinged out necklace = The Pro Skater Look

Popular brands among pro skaters range, but they usually wear the threads of their endorsers plus whatever they feel is hot: DVS Shoes and apparel, Supras, Fly Society, KR3W clothing, Famous Stars and Straps, BBC, Nike SB, Nixon watches, RS by Sheckler, New Era fitted hats

Where to buy these brands? … they all have a website.

Both guys along with buddy Paul Rodriguez have a website called SK8SITE (go figure). And on it it has everything a skater fan could possibly want… videos, photos, event info, etc etc.

So what’s your take on skater style?

The william Malcolm Collection

“Classic Menswear with a modern twist” is how one would describe The William Malcolm Collection. Created by, well, William Malcolm, the collection focuses on custom suits, tuxedos, overcoats, and accessories. Every garment is designed and hand-crafted for each individual client based on their specifications.

Upon entering his website, its feels like you’re stepping into the lobby of a luxury hotel or high end boutique– the jazz puts you in quite the relaxing, luxe, and ready to shop mood.

But before you begin shopping, stop by the museum, yeah that’s right– the museum, lol. It’s filled with custom William Malcolm suits (that may give you an idea of what you want) and inspirational quotes. After you have perused the gallery for awhile, you’re ready to design…

You’re able to create a custom suit from his Black Label, WM Monogram, and Formal Wear Collections; you feel like a designer as you pick and choose between the hundreds of fine fabrics that are offered. Once you’re done creating, lounge around the website to learn more about designer William Malcolm.

William Malcolm doesn’t just stop at designing modernly classic suits, he’s also a guy that’s working to uplift young American men. He’s the founder of The Suit Project,a program that focuses on self empowerment, educational advancement, presentation skills, and entrepreneurship, among other things for young men that are 18-22 years of age. Many mentoring programs tend to focus on teenagers and young kids, but most people can admit that ages 18-22 are crucial development years for those preparing to enter the “real world”. It’s great to see someone recognizing that there is a need and is poignantly responding to that need. Learn more about The Suit Project here.

Be sure to support Urban Gent William Malcolm as he continues to design elegant suits and works to change young lives. See more of The William Malcolm Collectionhere.

Tendresse (fondness)

An atmosphere heavily loaded with, memories but reinvented by using, technical innovations. To maintain the feeling of softness and a nostalgia of charm, there are sophisticated constructions, digital prints, placed jacquards, audacious accents, and subtle featherweight effects, silks, fine cottons, blends.

Then there are the refined, luxury lines of coordinates made to last: it's the triumphant return of the camisole, bodices, teddies: all expressions of an eternal seduction.

SPRING 2011 MENS FASHION SHOW: A FEW FAVORITES

So here's a quick run down on a few favorites from the Men's Spring 2011 shows…

 Trussardi 1911.

Talk about a home-run hitter, Trussardi's collection is the most comprehensive I've viewed thus far. They mix the best trends with forwarding-thinking luxury fashion, while mixing in retro American style the whole way. The collection has something for every type of guy: the traditionalist, the prep, the rocker, the 'whatever category you put may find yourself in', there's atleast a couple pieces in Trussardi's spring collection that's for you.

The collection transforms from slick retro red, black, and white to updated 90s American prep, gotta love it. The prints? Native-American. check. Stripes. check. Plaid. check. And get this– Trussardi even gives us a "hint of fatigue", lol. Is Milan Vukmirovic in my head… I think he is. (He's Trussardi's creative director, btw). But more than anything, Trussardi's Spring 2011 collection gives us proper elegant summer layers– shawl sweaters, a variety of jackets, swanky footwear, and bags (that don't look like purses).

In the latest issue of ElleGirl Japan - I styled a bunch of Japanese brands with my own clothes. Here I'm wearing a Dresscamp blouse, GVGV bracelet and charms, Jessica Simpson hat, 3.1 Phillip Lim quilted leather shorts, and a vintage necklace. Rings by Pamela Love, Iosselliani, and my collaboration with Dannijo and Tobi. The shoot was so much fun and I have a much better idea of what brands to look out for in Tokyo because of it. And learned that GVGV needs to be a bigger part of my life..I posted their double wrap belt in December and am still looking to get my hands on it. Special thanks to photographer Mari Sarai and Yukiko and Takako at ElleGirl! I'm actually off to Tokyo again tomorrow for a few days..bear with me while I sort through my New York and Milan photos!

Mens fashion Trends

The great thing about men’s fashions is that it stays pretty consistent. There are minor changes that happen every other year or so, but usually the major looks and trends last for years. The other great thing about men’s fashion is that there are only a handful of trendy looks, oppose to the hundreds of different looks women can “go-for”. So if you’re revamping your wardrobe or just trying to figure out what’s “in”. . .then check out these current fashion trends.

Blue: Sound simple right, well it is. Blue is one the current colors of the season. This is the easiest current men’s trend- all you have to do is buy blue clothes- I’d suggest some nice cobalt blue button-ups and maybe a indigo blue tie.

Unique Frames: Nothing says “I’m fly” better than a unique pair of shades. The traditional aviators are always great, but try a box-framed aviator in one of your favorite colors is even better.

Neckwear: A great way to update your wardrobe without buying more clothes is to buy a few ties and scarves. If you’re a newbie to the scarf department you should stick to the traditional Arab scarf- it comes in a variety of colors. Ties are a great way to complete any look . . . and skinny ties are still a cut above the rest. Add a complimenting solid bright tie to your neutral toned button-up and sweater.

Lupe Fiasco always wears his scarves right

80’s: Everything 80’s is in . . .solid bright colors, geometric types shapes, gold jewelry, funky sneakers, and more. Some guys like to go completely 80s I suggest going “neatly 80s” meaning don’t go too overboard unless you’re going to themed party. Keep your 80s look neat and clean by wearing a bright 80’s graphic tee and sneakers, but instead of wearing bright 80’s esque pants wear dark denim jeans and some unique frames.

Rock Star: One of the most popular looks for men is the “Rocker look” everyone from Lil’Wayne to David Beckham rocks style that make them look as if they bonified Rock Stars. The main staples for this look are fitted t-shirts and jeans that fit (no baggy jeans allowed). An Ed Hardy t-shirt and True Religion jeans are easy ways accomplish “The Rock Star”. I suggest mimicking ensembles of true rock starts like Travis Barker or mimicking the styles of guys who have the look down-pack like Lupe Fiasco.

Jim Jones & Juelz Santana Rock it out

Urban Prep: This is my personal favorite. It’s such a versatile look and truly signifies the meaning of “The Urban Gentleman”. Urban Prep is a mixture of the latest hip-hop trends and the traditional preppy look. There are a variety of ways to get the look, and is up for individual interpretation, but one simple example is to wear a fitted hat and chuck tailors/converse or unique sneakers with a button-up, sweater vest, and tie.

OFFICICAL FOR STYLE TNT.         Mr. creator.

 J. Mendel’s Spring 2011 collection was inspired by the fluid and graceful movements of ballet dancers.

You won’t find this surprising when you see how everything is as light as air when it moves down the runway.
In shades of peach, nude, grey, pink, terracotta and orange we were presented with long sleeved tops and cami’s paired with maxi skirts, evening dresses, cocktail dress and beautiful flowing gowns.
The colours, textures and fabrics were absolutely stunning. There was a lot of pleated looks and separates which if I had only viewed on Style.com, I would’ve assumed they were dresses.
Key accessories included fur boleros, red satin wedges which matched the models hot red lips.
Front Row: Melissa George and Gabrielle Union
Favourites: Dark nude silk chiffon camisole with matching maxi skirt and metallic plunging dress
Who I See Wearing This Collection: Melissa George, Malin Akerman, Taylor Swift, Gabrielle Union, Cat Deeley, Kristen Stewart, Faith Hill and Kerry Washington
